Of Chinese and Irish ancestry, Conlin grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She began acting as a child, performing in school, local and regional productions. After graduating high school in 1996, she moved to New York City to attend New York University, majoring in theatre. She also participated in the Experimental Theatre Wing's International Training Program in Amsterdam. She is currently living in the Los Angeles, CA area.
