Feeling bad, Booth says to her, "If Mark and Jason don't know how lucky they are, they don't deserve you in the first place." Then when Brennan tries to brush the pain off and dismiss all of her relationships as being "temporary anyways", he says to her very seriously, "You're wrong Bones, there is someone out there, someone you are meant to spend the rest of your life with, you just have to be open enough to see it", and they stare deeply at each other for a few moments. (Even Sweets gets a big smile on his face to see this.)
- And after that, they say they have a surrogate relationship with each other, and Booth offers to buy Bones dinner. It's like a little surrogate date.

| - Booth and Max Keenan (Brennan's father) talk and Max asks if Booth is sleeping with his daughter. Booth's best line in this scene is when he says that Brennan is beautiful with a sincere look on his face (very sweet!)
- Bones and Booth are watching Max and Parker do an experiment together. Booth explains to Bones that she should let Max continue working at the Jeffersonian, so that she and Max can enrich Parker's life with science. Bones agrees to let Max stay. (It's sweet.)

Bones, "Yes, as I recall, I had to force you to take me out in the field. You didn't want to, remember. This is all my fault." Then they both lean towards each other and smile almost as if they might kiss.

- When Booth falls on the ice and is knocked unconscious, Brennan rushes out on to the ice to make sure he's alright. When he finally comes to, he asks what she's doing there, and she responds, "I don't like it when you fall down and don't get up."

Parker, "I couldn't, I was only 20." Booth, "You say I love you, what's so hard about that?" Parker, "What? You've never loved someone and never told them?" The camera flashes back to Booth, who has this stunned look on his face, and it's obvious the answer is yes!

If anything happens to her...you know, that silky black hair and that smooth skin...(Booth is still on pain killers at this point, so he's a little drugged up) but even so, he obviously cares about Bones.

Unwilling to go into detail, Booth quickly turns to Bones to make sure she's alright, and she gently returns the handkerchief in his lapel pocket, pressing on his heart. (They stare at each other for a few seconds, and you can truly see how much they care about each other.)

When he asks why she agreed, she explains that doing so would force her to figuratively see herself through his eyes, therefore allowing her to live a more successful life. With his arm around her, Booth tells her that that was the nicest thing anyone has ever said about him.

|
| | The Critic in the Cabernet (425) | - Brennan, believing it to be a simple request, asks Booth to make a "donation" so that she can have a baby. |
| | The End in the Beginning (426) | - In this season four finale, in an unexpected twist, we discover that Booth and Brennan are married night club owners under investigation for murder. The story progresses in this odd fashion until the final scene, and it is the then that we are brought back to reality. Sitting at Booth's hospital bedside, Bones is typing something on her computer and reading it aloud, only to delete it. Finally, Booth wakes, muttering about a weird dream and wondering if it had all been real. With sadness in her voice, Bones tells him it wasn't real, and he then shockingly asks, "Who are you?" (Can't wait to see what happens next season!)
