  • In this episode we learn that Dr. Hodgins inherited the Cantilever group of companies, and is very wealthy. The Cantilever group is the biggest contributor to the Jeffersonian Institute.

Bones Episode Guide - Bones Best Bones/Booth Moments

  • Bones shows Booth her new Mercedes that her publisher bought her. Booth tells her that she parked it crooked and that makes her look like an idiot. He then refuses to ride in the car. Later in the episode Bones tells Booth that she got a big dent in the door by parking normally, Booth laughs and Bones says "that's just mean, you're mean" Booth laughs again
  • Booth tells Bones that Angela is more sensitive than the rest of the squints. "She didn't have the same training that the rest of you did on planet Vulcan. Bones: "I don't know what that means".
  • Bones goes into the interrogation room alone to find out who Shawn was working with. She knows a lot about how foster kids feel and we find out that she was a foster kid until her grandfather got her out of the system.
  • Booth tells Bones that if they are going to work together on future cases that she has to respect the law. Bones replies that if she can't always respect the law she can always respect Booth. To which Booth is a little surprised, but happy to hear it.

Bones Episode Guide - Bones Unanswered Questions

  • When Bones is talking to Zack she says that she was at Waco TX identifying the bodies of the branch Davidians who were killed by the ATF. This doesn't make sense though since she would have had to at least been a grad student to be doing this kind of work. That means that she would have had to been 21 at the youngest, and since the event took place on February 28, 1993 that would put her at 33 years old which she doesn't look. From later episodes we know they used Emily's birthday as Bones' which is October 1976 so she would have been 16 at the time.

Bones Episode Guide - Bones Bones/Booth Romantic Developments

  • Booth says he is sorry for doubting her interrogation ability in this case since she obviously has personal knowledge of the foster system. Bones says she will tell him the whole story at some later time
  • At the end of the episode Bones is dressed in a formal gown to attend a Jeffersonian function. Booth sees her and is take aback by her beauty. He can't quite bring himself to tell her she looks beautiful, only nice, better than nice, very... To which Bones replies thanks before he can finish the thought.
  • At the end Booth asks Bones how she knew he would back up her promise of keeping Shawn and his brother with Margaret. She is evasive at first but ends up saying because she knew Booth believed in heaven. Which I took to mean she thinks Booth is a good and moral man and would do the right thing by following her lead.

In this episode we get to lean more about both Bones and Hodgins backgrounds. Hodgins is from a wealthy family and Bones spent time in the foster system after her parents dissapeared. The chase between Booth and Bones is back to even where both are still gathering information on the other. Niether has fallen in love yet, but Booth is starting to notice Bones as more than just a good scientist that can help him on cases. He seems some pasion in her when she is defending the rights of the foster children. He learns of her personal experience with the foster system and feels empathy for her. Finally he sees just how beautiful she can be when she get dressed up in a formal gown, something he probably didn't expect.
Bones on the other hand is testing Booth to see what type of man he is, is he a good moral man that will do the right thing? This seems very important to her. We already know that all Bones female friends think Booth is hot, although we have not heard that from Bones herself we can assume she agrees with them. Either consciously or subconsciously Bones is checking Booth against her fantasy man and she wants to know if there is anything else to him other than the looks.
